Sensation, Emotion, and Thought :: Self Identity Growth Essays

Sensation, Emotion, and ThoughtMany times in life good deal get stuck with the same points of view and do non see any former(a) way to see answers be points of view. Therefore they do not see answers that are in front of them and can not change. Seeing other peoples points of view and expanding on them is how people grow and can widen what there beliefs are. In an introduction book for philosophy, Wisdom Without Answers, the writers give a make up understanding of how philosophy can answer questions for people Philosophy shows us how to identify the limitations of our own points of view. But it does more It teaches us how to get outside ourselves-how to endanger the barriers of our familiar framework of answers (Kolak & Martin 3). We only know a small part of life but by just thinking that are own thoughts and beliefs are right and that we will not look at the other side and stay to the familiar. The only way to grow and really be smart active life is to see that there is muc h we do not know. There are three combined parts of the self that makes experiences Sensation, sense, and our own thoughts. You can not leave one without the other two. When you touch something with your finger there is pressure on the skin and from that a thought comes from you brain which also make an emotion about the action come out. The question the author is giving the readers in Wisdom Without Answers is they really connected together. If you have a thought do you have emotion connected to it and maybe a sensation too. Your finger can think for itself so something has to be given information to you so that you know what you are doing or feeling. This is a dilemma because they all circular around each other so they have to be connected. We dont want are thoughts that make up some of an experience to be false. In chapter eight, the idea of experience is explored. The orientation is that sensation, emotion and thought are all components of any experience. The freak out begins when the author explains that there is a difference between what we experience and the interpretation of that experience. Any sensation is based on our minds interpretation of it.

The Minimum Wage Essay -- Minimum Wage Research Paper

The minimum plight is something that F.D.R. put in place a long time ago during the big(p) Depression. I dont think it worked then. It didnt solve any problems then and it hasnt solved any problems in 50 years.-- John RaeseFor many years it has been a matter of naturalized wisdom among economists that the minimum lucre causes fewer jobs to exist than would be the case without it. This is simply a matter of price theory, taught in every economics textbook, requiring no elaborate analysis to justify. Were this not the case, there would be no logical reason why the minimum wage could not be set at $10, $100, or $1 million per hour. Historically, defenders of the minimum wage have not disputed the dis-employment effects of the minimum wage, but argued that on balance the working piteous were better off. In other words, the higher incomes of those with jobs offset the lower incomes of those without jobs, as a result of the minimum wage l levitan. Now, President Obama is advancing the invigorated economic theory that modest increases in the minimum wage will have no impact whatsoever on employment. This proposition is based just on the work of three economists David Card and Alan Krueger of Princeton, and Lawrence Katz of Harvard. Their studies of increases in the minimum wage in California, Texas and New Jersey apparently found no loss of jobs among quick food restaurants that were surveyed before and after the increase l card-92b, l krueger, and l katz. While it is not yet clear why Card, Katz and Krueger got the results that they did, it is clear that their findings are straight contrary to virtually every empirical study ever done on the minimum wage. These studies were exhaustively surveyed by the negligible pursue Study Commission, which reason that a 10% increase in the minimum wage reduced teenage employment by 1% to 3%. The following survey of the schoolman research on the minimum wage is designed to give nonspecialists a sense of just how isola ted the Card, Krueger and Katz studies are. It will also indicate that the minimum wage has wide-ranging negative effects that go beyond unemployment. For example, higher minimum wages encourage employers to cut back on training, thus depriving low wage workers of an important means of long-term advancement, in return for a small increase in current income. For many workers this is a very ... ...g (1996), Who Gets What from Minimum Wage Hikes, Industrial and Labor Relations Review 49 (April) 547-52.------, and T. A. Causation and Moral Responsibility for Death Essay -- Euthanasia Physi

Causation and Moral Responsibility for DeathABSTRACT The distinction between killing and letting die has been a controversial element in arguments about the morality of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. The killing/letting die distinction is based on actor of death. However, a number of causal fixingss come into come across in any death it is impossible to state a complete cause of death. I argue that John Mackies analysis of causation in terms of inus factors, insufficient but non-redundant parts of unnecessary but sufficient conditions, helps us to see that moral responsibility for death cannot rest on causation alone. In specifying the cause of death, some factors can be considered alternatively as either causal factors or merely parts of the presupposed background conditions. If a factor is moved from the background field into the causal field, the result is a changed background field. Comparisons of cases of killing and letting die often do just this hence, the cases depend on different presuppositions and the causation cannot be directly compared. Moral judgments determine how to apportion factors to the causal and background fields. The distinction between killing and letting die has been utilize by many to condemn euthanasia and assisted suicide while giving approbation to withdrawing life-support systems in at least some patients. In the recent United States Supreme Court decision which denies a right to physician-assisted suicide, Chief Justice Rehnquist writes that when a patient refuses life sustaining medical treatment, he dies from an primal fatal disease or pathology but if a patient ingests lethal medication prescribed by a physician, he is killed by that medication. The paradox of confinement and freedom in A Doll?s House and Like Water

In the texts, A Dolls House by Henrik Ibsen and Like Water for coffee tree by Laura Esquivel, Nora Helmer and Tita (Josefita) are subject to the enigma of confinement and freedom. Tita is restricted to the ranch and kitchen, and Nora to the house. Concurrently, in the seclusion of the kitchen, Tita is liberated from Mama Elenas control, has freedom of self-expression through cooking, and can openly express her feelings. Josefita is a good cook with mystical abilities, and also has some freedom and control in the household. Both characters are victims of role-play. Tita has the role of housewife and Nora is a mother, wife, and dependent. Nora finds freedom in her debt, which gives her a sense of authority and control. The importance of role-play to Torvald (Helmer) challenges the strength of his marriage to Nora. Torvalds faade of a relationship with Nora disguises the lack of depth of his love for her and Noras recognition of this liberates her. She leaves him and discovers that it is the kind-hearted of freedom that she really wants. A Dolls House narrates how role-play and the competition for control co-exist. Consequently, one cannot be discussed without the other. This is also true of Like Water for Chocolate. In A Dolls House, Ibsen uses debt as a symbol to expose the superficiality of Nora and Torvalds marriage. Ibsen uses Noras secret debt as a tool for qualification social comment. It is significant for Noras realisation of the shallowness of their marriage and it also gives her a sense of pride and control in her daily life. Ultimately, the debt gives her freedom for self-discovery exactly simultaneously restrains her because she must deprive herself and lie to Helmer in order to repay it. When Helmer discovers Noras secret debt and forgery, he is so caught up in her crime and his appearances that he overlooks her ignorance and good intentions. When confronted with the fact that Torvald will discover her secret debt, she believes that if he is t he man she thinks he is, his finding will only strengthen their relationship.Act Three reveals that Helmer understandably does not intend to sacrifice himself for her and accuses her of having no religion, no morality, no sense of duty (Ibsen p221). Management Economics Essay

Introduction. The telephone line rhythm or sparing vibration refers to the ups and downs seen somewhat simultaneously in most parts of an economy. The cycle involves shifts over condemnation between periods of relatively rapid growth of output (recovery and prosperity), alternating with periods of relative stagnation or decline (contraction or recession). These fluctuations be oft measured using the real gross domestic product. To call those alternances cycles is rather mis principal, as they dont tend to repeat at fairly perpetual time intervals. Most observers find that their lengths (from peak to peak, or from trough to trough) vary, so that cycles are not mechanical in their regularity. Since no two cycles are alike(predicate) in their details, some economic experts dispute the existence of cycles and use the word fluctuations instead. Others see enough similarities between cycles that the cycle is a valid basis of studying the domain of the economy. A key question is whe ther or not there are similar mechanisms that generate recessions and/or booms that exist in capitalist economies so that the dynamics that appear as a cycle will be seen again and again.Just as there is no regularity in the timing of business cycles, there is no reason why cycles comport to occur at all. The prevailing view among economists is that there is a direct of economic activity, often referred to as full employment, at which the economy theoretically could stay forever. Full employment refers to a level of action at which all the inputs to the production routine are being used, but not so intensively that they wear out, break down, or insist on laid-backer wages and more vacations. If nothing disturbs the economy, the full-employment level of output, which naturally tends to grow as the population increases and innovative technologies are discovered, poop be maintained forever. There is no reason why a time of full employment has to give way to either a full-fledged boom or a recession.Text.Business Cycle, term used in economic science to designate changes in the economy.Ever since the Industrial Revolution, the level of business activity in industrialized capitalist countries has veered from high to low, taking the economy with it.Characteristics of business cycle are-A trade cycle is wave like movement.-Cyclical fluctuations are recurrent in nature.-Expansion and contraction in a trade cycle are additive in effect.-Trade cycles are all pervading in their impact.-It is characterized by the presence of crisis i.e. downward movement is more sudden and violent than the change from downward to 0upward.-Cycles differ in timing and amplitude they have a common pattern of degrees, which are sequential in nature.Phases Of Business CyclesThe ups and downs in the economy are reflected by the fluctuations in aggregate economic activities such as production, investment, employment, prices, wages, bank credits etc. The various phases of the trade cycl es areProsperity Expansion And Peak. This phase begins with the rise in the national output, consumer and capital expenditure, level of employment and inventories. Debtors find it more convenient to pay off their debts. Bank rate increases so credit facilities, idle capital for investment in production since inventory prices increases due to increase in profitability and dividend. Purchasing power continues to flow in and out of all kinds of economic activities. Expansion continues with the multiplier process. In earlier/ later stages additional workers can be obtained by giving higher wage than prevailing in the market. input prices increases rapidly which leads to increase in live of production. As a result price increases and cost of living increases which lower the consumption rate. The demand for new houses, cement, iron, push tends to halt and same is for furniture, automobiles etc. This makes reaching the peak. To summarize we can say that-It is a turning point in the busi ness cycle the end of magnification-Economy at or close to full employment-Capital and Labor Utilization at a high-Prices and cost rise at a nurse rates-Firms profit at high-Interest rates rise-Consumers and firms expectations favorableTurning Point And Recession. After reaching the peak, demand starts declining. Producer unaware of this event continues to increase production and investment. But after sometime they realize that their inventories are pilling up and they have indulged in over-investment. Consequently further investment plans will be given up-order for new machinery, huffy materials. Demand for attention ceases. Temporary and casual workers are removed. Producers of capital goods and raw materials cancel their order. This is the turning point and beginning of recession. nurture the income of wage and interest earners also decreases. This causes demand recession. Producer lower down the prices to get rid of inventoriesbut consumer expects further decreases in price and hence postpones their purchase. Investments starts declining leading to decrease in income and consumption, bank credit shrink and prices decrease. At this stage the process of recession is complete and the economy enters the phase of depression. To summarize this-Consumer spending waterfall-Investment spending falls-Inventories accumulate-Firms profits decline-Business Failure increaseDepression And Trough. This is the phase of relativity low economic activity. It indicates fall in production, increased unemployment and a rapid fall in the general price index. Workers lose their job, debtors find it difficult to pay off their debts, and investment in stock becomes less profitable. At the depth of depression, all economic activities touch the bottom and phase of trough is reached. Weaker firms are eliminated from the indus show. At this point, the process of depression is complete.Due to unemployment, labor starts working at lower wages. Consumer expects no further decline in pr ice and start spending. Hence demand picks up. Stock prices fall during recession the prices of raw material fall faster than the prices of the finished products. Therefore profitability tends to increase after the trough.Producers start replacing worth-out capital, investment picks up and employment gradually increases. followers this demand increases, bank credit becomes easily available at a lower rate. Due to increase in income and consumption, the multiplier effect increases the economic activities. The phase of depression comes to an end over timedepending on the speed of recovery. To summarize this-The turning point in the cycle the end of contraction-Characterized by high unemployment and low consumer demand relative to industry capacity- bigest period of excess capacity over the cycle-Business profits are low or shun-Some prices are falling other unchanged-Consumers and firms expectations about future are bleakRecovery. It starts when prices further stop falling. Producer s see no risk in toil production. Firms use idle capacity to increase production. This generates employment and income, which creates additional demand for consumer goods and services. Businessman when realize increase in profitability. Hence they speed up production machinery. Businessman starts increasing their inventories, consumer start buying more and more of durable goods and variety items. With this process catching up, the economy enters the phase of expansion and prosperity. The cycle is thereof complete. To summarize this-Employment, production, prices and wages begin to rise at roughly the same time-Expectations of consumers and firms optimistic or favorable-Investment spending increases-Consumer demand risesCauses of Cycles.Economists did not try to determine the causes of business cycles until the increasing severity of economic depressions became a major concern in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Two international factors that have been suggested as possible causes are sunspots and psychological trends. The sunspot speculation of the British economist William Jevons was once widely accepted. According to Jevons, sunspots affect meteorological conditions. That is, during periods of sunspots, brook conditions are often more severe. Jevons felt that sunspots affected the quantity and quality of harvested crops thus, they affected the economy.A psychological theory of business cycles, formulated by the British economist Arthur Pigou, states that the optimism or pessimism of business leaders may influence an economic trend. Some politicians have clearly subscribed to this theory. During the early years of the Great Depression, for instance, prexy Herbert Hoover tried to appear publicly optimistic about the inherent vigor of the American economy, thus hoping to stimulate an upsurge.Several economic theories of the causes of business cycles have been developed. According to the under consumption theory, identified particularly with the Bri tish economist John Hobson, inequality of income causes economic declines. The market becomes glutted with goods because the poor cannot afford to buy, and the robust cannot consume all they can afford. Consequently, the rich accumulate savings that are not reinvested in production, because of insufficient demand for goods. This savings accumulation disrupts economic chemical equilibrium and begins a cycle of production cutbacks. The Austrian-American economist Joseph Schumpeter, a proponent of the innovation theory, related upswings of the business cycle to new inventions, which stimulate investment in capital-goods industries. Because new inventions are developed unevenly, business conditions must alternately beexpansive and recessive. The Austrian-born economists Friedrich von Hayek and Ludwig von Mises subscribed to the overinvestment theory. They suggested that instability is the logical consequence of expanding production to the point where less businesslike resources are dra wn upon. Production costs then rise, and, if these costs cannot be passed on to the consumer, the producer cuts back production and lays off workers.A monetary theory of business cycles stresses the importance of the notes supply in the economic system. Since many businesses must borrow money to operate or expand production, the availability and cost of money influence their decisions. Sir Ralph George Hawtrey suggested that changes in interest rates determine whether executives decrease or increase their capital investments, thus affecting the cycle.Regulating the CycleSince the Great Depression, devices have been built into most economies to help prevent severe business declines. For instance, unemployment insurance provides most workers with some income when they are laid off. Social security and pensions paying by many organizations furnish some income to the increasing number of retired people. Although not as powerful as they once were, trade unions remain an obstacle against the cumulative wage drop that aggravated previous depressions. Schemes to support crop prices (such as the European Common Agricultural Policy) shield farmers from disastrous loss of income. The brass can also attempt direct intervention to counter a recession. There are three major techniques available monetary constitution, fiscal policy, and incomes policy. Economists differ astutely in their choice of techniqueSome economists prefer monetary policy, including the American Milton Friedman and other advocates of monetarism, and is followed by most conservative governments. Monetary policy involves controlling, via thecentral bank, the money supply and interest rates. These determine the availability and costs of loans to businesses. Tightening the money supply theoretically helps to counteract inflation loosening the supply helps recovery from a recession. When inflation and recession occur simultaneouslya phenomenon often called stagflationit is difficult to know which monetar y policy to apply.Considered more effective by American economist John Kenneth Galbraith are fiscal measures, such as increased taxation of the wealthy, and an incomes policy, which seeks to hold wages and prices down to a level that reflects productivity growth. This latter policy has not had much success in the post-World War II period.Conclusion.Thus we can say that the central idea of business-cycle literature, that the economy has regular and periodic wavesa cyclelasting for several years, has few adherents today. Perhaps such cycles never existed, or perhaps they once did but no longer do because the government now plays an active role in the economy. However, the business-cycle approach remains useful because it is an easy way to introduce a number of macroeconomic topics, including the adjustment process that remains central in macroeconomics.

Analysis the Song “The Way We Were” Essay

There is a songa love song that has touched several hundred super C audiences hearts it expresses the overflowing tinctureings of a woman who used to stay in her intense true love. The Way We Were, by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman, and Marvin Hamlisch illustrates the innermost emotions and regret of a middle-aged woman when she reflects on the youth which she had gone through. This song has a light beat and slow tempo forming beauteous sensations for the listeners, but it also leaves audiences a indistinct message to think about.Sophisticated audiences may find themselves in the song. It brings out fervor, especially for people who have been living in love. Marilyn Bergman uses simple language, but it is in truth touching and emotive. Basically, it is a classical song which was played by symphony orchestras and performed by Barbra Streisand. By just looking at the lyrics, one would feel the sodden soul and an introspective mind of a sensitive woman. In the first line of the so ng, she writes Memories, light the corners of my mind. Misty watercolor memories of the way we were. These memories have been engraved in her heart they are neither gloomy nor euphoric, but they are vivid images which she wants to repress in the most innermost sphere of her mind. It is not just something really hurtful it is not blissful to think of either. Her feeling is a mixture of nostalgia, melancholy, and a little bit of regret that is rushing through her body. Former known scenes were depicted in her mind, but, somehow, they are both painted with watercolor and blurred, symbolizing a mystical ethereal world that solely exists in her imagination and belongs to her only. go on the middle of the song she wonders, If we had the chance to do it all again. Tell me would we? Could we? She already knows her former love would never come back again the melody sounds desire she is missing and regretting her loss of love. The term Would we? Could we? is deliberately sung slowly and softly as mumbling is also a way to put across her thoughts. Despite her pertinacious regret, she prefers keeping that regret to making up her love again because she knows wistful moments and romantic longings that she has right now wouldnt exist if her love remained today. It is such an unearthly feeling and an agonizing struggle between the logic and the sentiment of a human being. The last couple lines expose changes in her mood, Memories may be dishy and yet whats too painful to remember. We simply choose to lead, so its the laughter we will remember whenever we remember the way we were. She used to live in love with both happiness and bitterness, but she had to learn how to forget unpleasant experiences to keep the most exquisite feelings inside herself. Does she simply choose to forget? It is not something easy to do.The way Barbra Streisand sings shows internal struggling when she decides to get rid of mental pains. The word laughter here is not simply something funny an d delightful to laugh at it is also a pang of remorse and regret about the love and the youth that are gone from her life. Marilyn Bergman used simple words to describe emotion of the woman in this song, so it is quite easy for listeners to apprehend the meaning however, its melody and the way Barbra Streisand performs it, the most essential factor, helps the song convey the message to audiences .The intended stress in every single word of her lyrics is absolutely touching. For example, the word smiles in the second line was purposely lengthened to nurse a hint to the audiences so that they can comprehend the whole significance of the song. It is a beautiful song evoking diverse memories for listeners. Each listener will feel and interpret the song in different ways depending on their character and their personal experiences. However, one thing for sure is that these audiences will feel more appreciative of people around them so that they will not be regretful later on.

Introduction To Poetry

Introduction To Poetry October 21, 2013 A relationship between deuce lovers is a bond that when broken, can be hard to get over. Its hard to undo feelings for someone whom youVe built so much trust and compassion with. It takes a strong person to forgive someone who has stopped loving you when you still love him or her. And even then, it takes a stronger person to see that ex-lover and be fitting to talk to them in a civil and friendly manner. Women tend to find it harder to do this than men due to the feelings and trust that they put into men, who are already viewed as Jerks that only care about them.Carolyn Kizer, author of Bitch, is Just like those women and shows anger toward her ex-lover. She shows her maturity and strength and doesnt allow him to spark a reaction that shows she wants him back. This is the first metre that Kizer is meeting with her old lover in some time. It is clear that it has been a magical spell because she says, after all these years (1). As the convers ation continues, we see more than reasons that it has been a number of years since they have seen from each one other. She starts off the greeting with a simple hello and then asks, How are the children? This is something someone would only say if they havent seen or perceive from someone in some time, but is quick to have seen them.Kizer also knows he isnt hurting her anymore so theres no reason to be hostile toward him, but the recoil inside her doesnt feel the same way. When he was too busy for her loving devotion, he would send her to the c en (22).Kizer didnt get the tull attection that sne wanted, and yet it was the small careless kindnesses (24) that she adored so much. The good days that he had or if he had a few drinks are the days that were more important to her than the casual cruelties (27). She enjoyed the times when they were nice to each other and cared for each other, although they seemed to be short in number. Its nice to know you are doing so well (28), shows that she still cared for him like anyone would care for a friend.Kizer tells the bitch he couldnt have taken you with him (29), because he cared too much and was too clumsy (30) unlike his new wife and k ids. She was too attached to him and was clingy, but now in his new life he has a wife and kids that love him but give him his space when he needs it. He has a new life where he is comfortable, happy and shares it with the ones he loves. As those few minutes of catching up comes to an end, she asks him to Give her regards to his wife (32). They begin to part as they say their goodbyes.Trying not to trip up and release any emotion, Kizer ends their conversation with Nice to have seen you again (34). It is tough for someone to tell an ex-lover to say hello, or give his or her regards to their wife. No one wants to see someone they used to love and share a life together with enjoying life with someone else. But not all relationships are meant to last. A true relationship will come in time, so it is better not to dwell on what could have been and look forrad to what could be. So, Kizers poem shows how we should be able to turn an old, close partner to a friend.

You could see them all as the bad guys. On the other team are the Mexican forces, consisting of the Army, Navy, Air force, the national police and other Mexican forces What are the sources of the conflict? What is it about? The main source of the conflict is power. All of the cartels wanted to a greater extent power and money and they started trash each other because of this. Another major cause of the conflict are the drug trafficking routes used by different cartels, the cartels want more power everyplace each others routes. Relationships between/among conflicting parties? They were once all together in one massive cartel. But because of the decision of the leader of the cartel the mother-cartel spli t up in many smaller cartels (See Dimension 1). What is the history of the conflict? The birth of all Mexican drug cartels is traced to former Mexican juridic Federal Police agent Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (The Godfather), who founded the Guadalajara Cartel in 1980 and controlled all illegal drug trade in Mexico and the trafficking corridors across the Mexico-USA border throughout the 1980s. He started off by smuggling marijuana and opium into the U. S. A. , and was the first Mexican drug chief to link up with Colombias cocaine cartels in the 1980s. Through his connections, Felix Gallardo became the forecast man for the Medellin cartel, which was run by Pablo Escobar. This was easily accomplished because Felix Gallardo had already established an infrastructure that stood ready to serve the Colombia-based traffickers. There were no cartels at that time in Mexico. Felix Gallardo was the lord of Mexican drug smugglers. He oversaw all operations there was just him, his cronies, and the politicians who sold him protection. 59 However, the Guadalajara Cartel suffered a major blow in 1985 when the roots co-founder Rafael Caro Quintero was captured, and later convicted, for the murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarena. 6061 Felix Gallardo afterwards kept a low profile and in 1987 he moved with his family to Guadalajara.According to Peter Dale Scott, the Guadalajara Cartel prospered largely because it enjoyed the protection of the Direccion Federal de Seguridad (DFS), under its chief Miguel Nazar Haro, a CIA asset. The Godfather then decided to divide up the trade he controlled as it would be more efficient and less likely to be brought down in one law enforcement swoop. 63 In a way, he was privatizing the Mexican drug business firearm sending it back underground, to be run by bosses who were less well known or not yet known by the DEA. Gallardo convened the nations top drug traffickers at a house in the resort of Acapulco where he designated the plazas or territories. The process how do we choose to deal with the conflict? We do not personally deal with this conflict. However, the US army helps the Mexican government at some points, since most of the drugs comes in via Mexico.

Have You Ever Experienced Falling in Love? Essay

Have you ever get wordd falling in love? How do you know if youre in love? Does age really matter when you fall in love? What does love feel like? These ar well-nigh of the questions asked by teenagers like me. I, as a teenager, admit that I have loved someone, and have been loved back. At first, I didnt know that, tho I woke up one morning and realized that I was in love with him. I taught myself that time that I was too teenage for love since I was just 15 years old back thusly, but in reality, age does not really matter at all. Love is the greatest jot in the whole world. As a teenager we cant help but get curious in things like love. So I decided to read an article about teenage love. In everyones teenage years, we depart encounter different good deal, get interested with someone, we want to be loved and fall in love. There will also come a time in our adolescent years where we will get an whim to fall in love with someone so that we will not be left behind with what is trending, because this is part of our physical growth as a teen. Francis Githinji states that Teenage is a confusing place to be because you are not old enough to be called mature and you are not too young to be called a child. Francis is right, we are in a place of confusion because sometimes, we feel like we are old enough to handle these love situations and sometimes we feel that we are too young to be serious in love. Teens also conclude that theyre in love with someone but then they dont realize that they are just infatuated.Out of curiosity, teens want to experience and explore something new about themselves that is connected with love. It is because they hear from certain people that if love is real, there should be sexual intercourse involved. But for me, its not real love if its only lust. And if you really love someone, you will respect her/him. Thats what I call love. No one can say if teenage love is real or not, but as you experience love in your teenage years, youll le arn from it and become wiser the next time you fall in love again.Nobody is an expert when it comes to love. We cant run across love, it just comes around. We will get shocked that one day, we fell in love someone. There is nothing wrong with falling in love, but sometimes the people in it make mistakes. We just have to know how to handle love. As we take on our teenage life, we will get along with another(prenominal) people and unexpectedly fall in love. But it doesnt matter whether its real or not, as long as we are enjoying our life. We are still young, and there are many experiences that await us.

We depose easy to encounter that both of their education system have kindergarten level and twelve grades which for children from the ages of 3 to 18. After finishing ecumenic education, most of students in Australia move on their studying at TAFE or colleges or universities, and so do Vietnamese students. Moreover, both of them have public instructs which boys and girls can join equally in class. In contuse of the similarities, these two educations have several inequali tys in system division, timetable and the way students can give to university. The first disagreeence between two education systems is the system division. In Vietnam, public kindergartens frequently admit children from the age of 18 months to 5 years elder. They commonly study in primary give lessons at 6 years old for 5 years (grades 1 5), secondary school at 12 years old for 4 years (grades 6 9) and high school for 3 years (grades 10 -12). A Perspective of Cultural Conflict in Classroom Essay

This paper draws from the understanding that pagan differences and imbalance has extensively repressed the process of study as well as literacy developing. This factor is evident by the continual differential treatment of instructors on clear and black shaverren thereof affecting the progress of colored nipperren in literacy development. Learning literacy encompass the efforts employed by the teacher to dish out the baby develop reading and writing attainment in the second dustup. As such(prenominal), this process occurs within the threshold of culture and is influenced by social factors ranging from the belief of the teacher and the mogul of the children to literary skills. The evaluation of methods of literacy practice help in deigning validity and reliability of the instruments of instruction used in literacy accomplishment and development amid cultural differences and conflicts reflects an element that formulates an important factor in situations where the teacher a nd his beliefs as well as the literacy practice extensively leverages the varying degrees of the whole row.IntroductionLiteracy skill and development is a pedagogical flavour that begins long before children commence their formal education as well as formal schoolhouse instruction. During these years, children acquire skills and knowledge that atomic number 18 typified by literate behavior in a stage setting that is maneuver by socio-cultural manifestations. The whole process is influenced by a number of factors ranging from cultural implications, the beliefs of the teacher and the instruction methods for literacy practice. The teacher should emphasize on the development of literacy as a process that is ongoing, and through a schoolroom attaining environment. This means that for the efficiency of literacy acquisition development, every(prenominal) aspects of literacy moldiness develop simultaneously, with the language and literacy sharing similar features and then allowing students to encounter a natural hierarchy to the stages of development. Methods of Literacy PracticeThe complexity of literacy development rests on the pedestal of the childrens ability to effectively read and write in English as the formed literate culture. Delpit argues that our cultures and communities coiffure the basis on which differences in instructing children as they learn new language is evidenced (Delpit, 2006). This cultural virgule and weakness presents a conflict which should be resolved by the teachers attempt to maximize the educational potential of children from colored racial background. The teacher and his belief about literacy development play a significant role in the entire process of literacy and language development. There is an interrelationship between literacy and language such that, the teacher should base his instruction on language which plays a key role in building the foundation for reading and not on the racial backgrounds.Accordingly, the teacher s hould use the method of submerging to enable children develop literacy by being surrounded by spoken language. In so doing, children volition not only learners to conference but will also encounter print language in charts labels and stories and an organized library which enables students to read and write in areas of the print language. In addition, it is plausible to note that as a teacher, it is vital to use a practical method of instruction that help children demonstrate the literacy skill being learned in a context where the teacher uses good classroom management to first out racial power imbalance that exist in classrooms. As such, this should be done both in classroom and outside classroom situations. For example, Delpit contends that when volume around children use language despoticly, things happen positively.Ideally, language, which the key of literacy, become part of life around children (Delpit,2006). This out of classroom situation means that a teacher should emph asis on the importance of language which is mirrored through books, literacy events and writing and thus children will learn the language at home, in town and in the villages where they are. In a classroom setting, demonstration of literacy skills should be enhanced by the teacher through modeling where children learn the four skills of language such as reading skills, writing skills, speaking skills and listening skills throughout the day. In this way, children will acquire and develop literacy skills by observing purposeful literacy in a myriad of ways.Furthermore, the teacher should advise parents to highly expect their children to talk thus relieving the whole process the force per unit area and tension of literacy development from learning in an environment that is cultural conflict. The teacher works on helping the students to learn literacy skills by working on these skills at stamp down levels. As a result, a teacher should provide children with enough materials that match their literacy levels and by catering for separate differences a teacher sets the pace of developing literacy skills thus structuring the class with expectation of leaning. To illustrate, the ways by which people respond and react during a conversation influences the behavior of a child and usually non verbal expressions such as smiles, cuddles and other remarks creates a verbal interaction that shapes the development of literacy. Therefore, acquiring and developing literacy skills does occur anywhere at home, in groups, with relatives among others and this natural way should be used in helping the process of literacy acquisition and development. With the classroom, the teacher should create a collaborative learning environment where children have the opportunity to provide positive feedbacks to their peers which specifically is encouraging and constructive in terms of learning literacy skills. With regard to this, little children should be active in learning whether at home or in school the teacher should help the children to position at better speaking skills, reading skills, writing skills and listening skills at school in activities that help them to make sense of their acquired literacy knowledge and skills.Racial, class, ethnic and gender conflicts influence the quantity of literacy instruction in a racially mixed class. However, a teacher should influence children and parents from disfranchised cultural groups to develop measures of subverting negative pressure dominant group. Delpit notes that the community environment as well as home leverages the literacy development of a child. As such, schools, homes, families and classroom are learning environments situated in the community. In this case, the out of class element extensively influences learning opportunities and conveys a chance to take part in the process of literacy acquisition and development of their child (Delpit, 2006). Significantly, this narrows down to a cultural aspect in learning and impacts on the literacy development children acquire. For example, a child from a poverty stricken neighborhood encounters a disintegrated learning environment and owing to the fact they are likely to be face social emotional and behavioral conditions that are square makes them develop non beat English hence their literacy skills being interfered with.In addition, Delpit contends that the culture and environment directly relate to the ability of the child to develop vocabulary skills and thus the literacy development at kindergarten should be well structured because it determines how the childs academic achievement varies in school and classroom.Childrens, socio behavioral, emotional self regulations are viewed within the precincts of cultural orientations and all these are influenced by homes, families, schools and society at large. On this ground, Delpit postulates that the development of a childs literacy skills should be allowed to take place at all times and in every place (D elpit, 2006).Accordingly, literacy is construed to be abstruse of varied dimensions that transcend the boundaries of classroom and society and this interplay potently affect the learning opportunities that children are presented with both at home and in school. In light of this, there is considerable evidence that shows that proficient literacy obligate that children must have strong foundation in oral language an element that borders phonological and vocabulary skills as well as the overall language skills which is basically determined by the cultural orientations. This falls in the wider dimension of influencing how a child demonstrates systematic and explicit ways of decoding, comprehending and writing language which is greatly wedged by the cultural base of the child.Due to the cultural influence in learning language and literacy skills, the preschool consider forms an important factor in the acquisition and development of literacy skills. Therefore, it has been speculated th at achieving this learning element depends on the social economic status of the childs family. Accordingly, children form less fortunate families begin their literacy levels late and without financial ability to buy literacy resource, many children from such backgrounds become literate very late.As such, the teacher should come to the assist of this group of children by working out a correlation that will improve home and classroom learning environment through what is inarguably called direct parent training and education. In essence, Delpit portends that parents from such economic thresholds should strongly embrace the concept of early preschool interventions in a bid to socially and academically make a vital difference in the literacy acquisition and development of their children.Similarly, the classroom environment influences the belief and mindsets of a teacher in their literacy development instruction. In essence, the attitude of the teacher over the children he is instructio n posses a overlap characteristic that is marked by a safe and orderly environment high expectations for the literacy achievement of the students, strong educational leadership, the amount of time given to literacy instruction classroom management and available methods of evaluations and instructions.Accordingly, a compromising and homogenous literacy skill provides a more successful effect on reading, speaking and writing thus making the instruction children receive in the class more substantially. However, in the event of a sundry(prenominal) literacy skill, it becomes difficult as the teacher to have clear cut expectations on the literacy achievement thus his beliefs may not allow him to substantially provide instruction that enhances literacy awareness. For the most vulnerable children in the black American community, the development of literacy skills is under certain progression challenges such as underachievement but Delpit shows that the social and motional go offered by the teacher creates a climate that leads to the efficiency in building literacy levels of children from multicultural backgrounds. The classroom setting should provide a highly social, emotional support and the teacher should therefore come in with a n instructional support which will systematically a stronger child literacy development and social outcomes. Particularly, such learning environment become important for children from the back community because they are typical of social problems and during the development of literacy skills, they may exhibit weak social skills. The engagement of children in different learning environment helps boots their need to learn and this contributes to their literacy growth.ConclusionFrom the foregoing discussion, it is evident that the type and amount of literacy instructions that a teacher should give to children in classroom and the continuous learning of literacy skills at home and in the society facilitates a unbroken and systematic litera cy growth. Accordingly this involves a combination of methods that range from code focused strategies o holistic and signification strategies prove to be the effective models of enhancing literacy development.Teachers therefore should use sustained interventions that range form intensive and equilibrise pedagogical aspects in literacy acquisition and development. Teachers therefore need to structure the instructional designs on the structure of the language and other social cultural elements that aids in the acquisition of literacy skills.ReferenceDelpit, L (2006) Other muckles Children Cultural Conflict in Classroom. Pricilla and the Wimps Character Reflection

The character of Priscilla in the floor Priscilla and the Wimps come upons numerous traits and characteristics which allow unrivaled to get assumptions about her as a person outside of the events depicted in the business relationship. The first-class honours degree descriptive nerve of Priscilla as a character would be her natural appearance. We are made aware in the opening move of the story that Priscilla stands as a massive individual in the school community and many students are fearful of her based solely on her physical stature. This whitethorn be confirmed on report card of the fact that she only had one friend, Melvin Detweiler, and was not accepted by many of the other students who attended the school. Priscillas size and strength would lead me to cogitate that she has an athletic background, further shaping my idea her physical appearance. The first aspect of her physical appearance is her clothing, which I presume would be a stereotypical athletic style, much(p renominal) as track pants and a hoodie, some huge sneakers for her massive feet and a windbreaker. Her clothes may also be rather small because of her enormous size. other way to refer to my ideas of Priscillas physical appearance is through her facial features, which may consist of a simple haircut, like a ponytail and peradventure some bruises or scars from playing contact sports throughout the years. Another way to classify Priscilla as a character would be through her nature and mental concepts. I envision that she would have a protector-like personality which was demonstrated through her actions towards the end of the story, when Melvin was threatened by the Kobras. This unique disposition includes aspects such as cosmos quietly forceful, original and sensitive while being extremely intuitive about people (Melvin), and interested for their feelings. I think that Priscilla would also be well-respected for her perseverance in doing the right thing and likely to be individualis tic, rather than leading or following. My ideas for Priscillas background and outside life will also reveal my illustration of this particular character. As stated before, I picture Priscilla to be involved with sports because of her physical abilities as well as to compensate for her lack of friends. Her lack of friends may also be because she could live in an isolated area where building relationships with other children her age is not possible. Her aggressive behavior revealed in the story may be a cause of belligerent parents or possibly an older brother who has picked on her or played a significant role in her life causing some mannish qualities to be rubbed off on Priscilla. Further exploring my impression of Priscilla, it may similarly benefit my overall project to examine her motivation for specific actions, her sense of humor and habits. The motivation for her actions throughout the circumstances presented in this story could be that she has only one friend and she will do anything to maintain that friendship through security measure or other means. When Melvin is harassed by the Kobras, she sees them as a threat and deals with it in an aggressive personal manner to assure that Melvin will continue to see her as a friend, and know that she will have his back. Another possible motivation for Priscillas actions may be that she does not want to be seen as clean and wishes to sustain her reputation as the toughest in the school. When confronted by the Kobras, she sees an opportunity to prove to everyone how dangerous she is and reassures that no one will mess with her or Melvin. Priscillas sense of humor may also dictate who she is as a character. I consider that Priscilla has a sadist quality about her and finds that when she harms people she does not care for, she gets a sense of accomplishment and humor. This can be demonstrated by her actions at the end of the book when she locks monk Klutter in her locker and continues to walk away with Melvin.Pris cillas habits also shape her character, both positively and negatively. She may have a bad habit for being overly aggressive or constantly escalating conflicts to uncultivated acts. She correspondingly has neat habits, however, which may include standing up for what is right and being a good friend. Overall, my personal image of the character Priscilla is revealed through her actions in the story of Priscilla and the Wimps combined with my own ideas and concepts which I believe apply to this particular character.

The last line of the poem states that The gods and parents heard her prayer, and they were stirred. Ovid) suggesting that some(prenominal) parents were made aware of the death of their hildren and are stirred in their hearts. If only they had allowed the ill-fated loves to be together, they would still be alive. William Shakespeare took the poem of Pyramus and Thisbe and built on it to create Romeo and Juliet, the quintessential love story upon which so many others are copied. Romeo and Juliet come from militant families, the Capulets and Montegues. For eld these families have fought and brought disc ord to the sweet town of Verona. Just as Pyramus and Thisbe, the children of these feuding families would non be allowed to be together. They join by chance at a masquerade ball hosted by the arents of Juliet, the Capulets. Romeo and his friends were looking to chime in the party and shake up the evening a bit. Romeo is out of sorts because he has had a dream where something goes real wrong and he displacenot figure out what it is. When Romeo instantly in love. There is a bit of advert when they first discover the true identity of the other, but a whispering on a balcony dulls that look up and they only command to be together, no matter what. Romeo and Juliet are married in secret, figuring that in time their parents willing be fine with it. That does not turn out to be the case.Romeo is anished and Juliet is coif to hook up with another. Like Romeo and Juliet, West Side twaddle is story about ill-fated lovers, misunderstanding and loss. West Side horizontal surface was a highly acclaimed musical that showed on Broadway in 1957 and was made into an award winning movie musical in 1961. The similarities between the sportsman of Romeo and Juliet and the musical of WestSide Story are striking, but so are the differences. West Side Story is about two gangs in the streets of New York in the 1950s the Jets and the Sharks. The Sharks are Puerto Ricans, new to America and looking to make a home for themselves. The Jets are looking to keep their streets white and get the Sharks to leave. In the middle of these two warring factions are Maria, sister to Bernarndo, the head of the Sharks and Tony, best friend to Riff, the head of the Jets. Just like Romeo, Tony has a dream however, Tonys dream is full of inspiration as e feels that the dream is telling him that something wonderful is on the horizon.Riff tries to get Tony to tell more about the dream, but Tony can only remember that he feels like something big is about to happen to him. On that note, Riff convinces Tony to go to a dance and maybe meet the girl of his dreams. Maria and Tony meet at that dance, Just like Romeo and Juliet. At first Maria is angry and does not understand the event, but eventually she tells Tony to not turn himself in and they will run away together.Tony goes to the soda shop to ide from the Sharks and to wait for Maria to meet him at the bus stop. Maria is detained from leaving for the bus stop by one of the local unit of ammunition cops. S he asks her friend, Bernardos girlfriend, to get a message to Tony. Anita does not want shop. The Jets are at the soda shop acquire ready for more fghting with the Sharks when Anita shows up. She tries to get to see Tony, but the Jets wont let her through. They treat her very badly and out of frustration she tells them to tell Tony that Maria is dead, killed by one of the Sharks in retaliation for her involvement with Tony. When Tony hears that Maria is dead, he is so distraught he goes looking for a fight hoping that one of the Sharks will kill him. He finds Geno, the boy that was arranged to marry Maria by her brother, and taunt him until he finally shoots Tony. Just as Tony grabs for his abdomen, he sees Maria and knows that she is alive. He is relieved to know that she is alive and dies in her arms. Maria, blames the death of her true love on the hatred of the two gangs, Just as parents of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe are to blame for the deaths of their children, due to their hatred and closed-mindedness.These stories set the stage for so many more. Stories where the audience hopes that the others will realize the truth before it is too late. One such story is the move, An matter to Remember directed by Leo McCarey and starring Cary Grant as Nickie Ferrante and Deborah Kerr as Terry McKay. This story has these two individuals meeting on a boat trip from europium to New York in a time when that is how people traveled. They meet up several times on the ship and decide to disembark in Villefranche-sur-Mer to visit Nickles grandmother. On this trip, Nickie realizes that he has very strong feelings for Terry.Unfortunately, both are already involved with other people. They decide that in 6 months they will meet at the top of the conglomerate State Building if they are each free of the current entanglements. Nickie waits for hours on the Empire State Building but Terry does not show. Disappointed and rejected, he leaves to continue his life histor y without the fair sex he truly loves. Little does Nickie know, Terry, on her way to the meeting place, is hit by a car and badly injured. She is confined to a wheelchair. Not wanting anyones pity, she does not contact Nickie to explain what happened. After some time both characters et back together with their exs. At a chance meeting at the ballet, Nickie and Terry see each other, but he does not notice that she is unable to walk as she is seated in her seat. Sometime later, Nickie tracks down Terry and goes to visit her. She remains on the couch with her legs under a blanket. Nickie has no idea of what has happened to her. The audience is left wishing she would Just move the blanket and tell the truth so they can confess their love to each other. Luckily, Nickie notices a wheelchair in the bedroom along with a movie of his of the place where they met.He moves the blanket and realizes what has happened and they embrace, with Terry stating, If you can paint, I can walk anything can happen, dont you think (An Affair to remember)? This story leaves the audience satisfied and happy. The song Our Deal by Best Coast also has the Romeo and Juliet free radical of star- crossed lovers bent on destruction. The video, directed by Drew Barrymore, has warring gangs, the solar day Trotter and the iniquity Creepers tagging up the streets of Los Angeles. A girl from the shadow Creepers, veronica, meets and falls in love with a boy from the Day Trotters, Lucky. They secretly steal away time to be together and confess their love. A gang fght leaves the Night Creepers beat up and a rumble to retaliate is away with her. In response, he spray paints on a wall, l Cant (Best Coast Our Deal video) Lucky goes behind the corner of the wall and Veronica runs away. When they meet again it is at the rumble. Angry and hurt, Veronica punches Lucky in the face causing him to lose his residual and fall off the roof of a building down do his certain death. Upon seeing what she has done , Veronica runs down to him. She looks up and see the rest of the message tagged on the wall, it to spend the rest of my life with you (Our Deal) Veronica, crying looks down at Lucky only to see him die in her arms. We can see how these stories connect through the commonality of love, loss and misunderstanding. Pyramus misunderstands the bloody shawl and assumes his love is dead and so kills himself. Romeo, having not certain Juliets message, misunderstands the death-like sleep of his true love and kills himself, which in turn, causes Juliet to kill herself. Tony, after receiving the wrong message about Maria, goes out looking for someone to kill him to relieve him of the pain of losing his lover.Likewise, Veronica accidentally kills her love, Lucky, after misunderstanding his message. The only difference in the stories presented here is the one of Nickie and Terry, where misunderstanding and lack of information causes Nickie to come to the wrong conclusion about Terrys absence on the Empire State Building, but in the end of the film, they resolve the let go of and assume a happy ending. One would argue that these elements of love, loss and misunderstanding resonate over the years with audiences because we can all relate to these feelings.Teenagers, specially, can relate to a love that seems so overwhelming because it is the revolve around of much of adolescent life (Appleton). The inclusion of forces like parents or friends preventing that love is also one that teenagers can relate with. Many teenagers feel that the only purpose of an adult or authority fgure is to thwart their happiness. This contribution makes it easy to blame the parents in both Pyramus and Thisbe and Romeo and Juliet. When we do not receive a happy ending, we want to place that blame on someone and who better to place that on than the friends and family who prevented the love from flourishing?
